When you hire the MCSO to patrol your community, shouldn't you get your money's worth?
Communities who have relied on the MCSO to keep their citizens safe are finding out that the MCSO isn't investigating serious crimes. What value are they getting for their money?

Who's hiding what?
Numerous groups, including the clergy and the Mayor of Phoenix have requested Department of Justice and FBI investigations into the operations of the MCSO. If there is nothing to hide, then why is Joe Arpaio doing all he can to stop them?

FBI is investigating the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is investigating Sheriff Joe Arpaio and the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office for possible civil rights violations committed during his immigration sweeps. According to news reports, the FBI has been looking into the Sheriff's actions long before Mayor Phil Gordon asked them to do so in a letter sent on April 4. This is in addition to the close monitoring of the MCSO by the Department of Justice (DOJ). DOJ spokeswoman Carolyn Nelson said in July that officials were monitoring the sheriff's office's illegal immigration enforcement operation last month.

In response to a question about the FBI investigation, Joe Arpaio said "Never heard of anything. I think we would know, right?" Actually, no, he wouldn't know. That's why they call it an "investigation." If anyone should know that, you'd think it would be the top law enforcement officer in the county, wouldn't you?

Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s Sex Crimes Unit Under Investigation

The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office internal affairs division is currently investigating Joe Arpaio’s sex crimes unit to figure out what happened to hundreds of cases that were never worked but instead piled up on deputy’s desks. Among the charges being investigated are why many child sex crimes and rape cases have not been handled properly.

In the small west valley town of El Mirage alone, nearly 70 sex crime cases appeared to have had little or no investigative work done. In addition, dozens of other reported violent crimes cases including rapes, sexual assaults, aggravated assaults and armed robberies were never opened for investigation.

According to an investigation of nearly 350 violent crime cases by The East Valley Tribune, “the sheriff’s office did not investigate at least 12 sex crimes and did little work on at least 20 other armed robberies and aggravated assaults during its time serving the town. El Mirage investigators have found dozens more that were left unworked, based on their own discussions with MCSO.”

Now that the cover-up has been exposed, Sheriff Joe is investigating himself by conducting his own internal affairs investigation of his sex crimes unit and central investigations bureaus.

When crimes against children, rapes, sexual assaults and armed robberies end up in a file drawer with no attempt at investigation or arrest, it is not enough for Sheriff Joe to investigate himself. If you are outraged at the lack of protection being provided by Sheriff Joe, it is time that you call on other law enforcement and justice agencies to investigate Sheriff Joe.
